Food Service FAQ

What do I need to get into the Foodservice business?

  • Microwave (1000 watt or higher)
  • Refrigerator must hold food under 44 degrees
  • Condiments are suggested (ketchup/mustard)
  • Plates, forks, knives, spoons
  • Must have 2 or 3 compartment sink (based on local town codes)

Do I need a food license?

  • In most cases, yes, for any unpackaged food (hot dogs, soup)

Where should I display food?

  • The ideal location is to create a center food court which you would merchandise your coffee products along with your foodservice programs
  • Stores with large checkout areas can display certain high volume foodservice programs on the checkout counter

What if I have to throw food out?

  • HLA offers most food service products as a single pick so you should never be overstocked
  • The profit margins are significant and a certain amount of spoilage is acceptable and will not impact the over-all profitability of the program
