Food Service FAQ
What do I need to get into the Foodservice business?
- Microwave (1000 watt or higher)
- Refrigerator must hold food under 44 degrees
- Condiments are suggested (ketchup/mustard)
- Plates, forks, knives, spoons
- Must have 2 or 3 compartment sink (based on local town codes)
Do I need a food license?
- In most cases, yes, for any unpackaged food (hot dogs, soup)
Where should I display food?
- The ideal location is to create a center food court which you would merchandise your coffee products along with your foodservice programs
- Stores with large checkout areas can display certain high volume foodservice programs on the checkout counter
What if I have to throw food out?
- HLA offers most food service products as a single pick so you should never be overstocked
- The profit margins are significant and a certain amount of spoilage is acceptable and will not impact the over-all profitability of the program
